Young entrepreneur rises above COVID-19 challenge

13 Jul 2021

A young entrepreneur based in Maun Ms Lentlafetse Dingalo has risen above the challenges of COVID-19 and identified business opportunities to widen her business scope.

The 33-year-old young woman of Shorobe village in the North West District explained in interview that she saw the need to diversify her saloon business by introducing an event planning and wedding cars for hire components to meet her clients’ needs.

Her business Jay’s Wedding Cars, a company that lends cars for weddings and plans events was birthed in 2020 after the national lockdown.

Jay’s Wedding Cars was named after her son Jordan Dingalo.

Ms Dingalo started the Wedding Cars business with an Audi vehicle that she owned at the time and has since expanded her fleet and added a convertible, a vintage car and wedding carriages.

The business was inspired by a gap she identified for clients who do not have cars to transport the  bridal party on the  wedding day.

“The wedding cars business is on demand, we do weddings and other activities on most weekends,” she said.

She however said the limit on the number of people for social gatherings such as patlo and weddings disadvantaged her business.

Ms Dingalo said she was planning to expand the wedding car business by incorporating a scenic flight package which she hopes to  introduce before the end of July.

She is also set to open a bridal shop soon in Maun.

“Since I am running a salon, it is more like a package, to promote a one stop service,” she said.

Ms Dingalo urged other young people to be motivated to pursue their passion and establish businesses.

“I am motivated to have multiple streams of income therefore I follow my passion, I have learnt that one has to sell anything to make money and see opportunities in anything especially with the COVID-19 situation,” she said.

Ms Dingalo’s company is located at New Mall in Maun. Ends
