Prayer important weapon - Kereng

12 Jul 2021

The Minister of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism, Ms Phildah Kereng, says prayer is one of the most powerful weapons God has given mankind.

Speaking at the 10th  anniversary of Jehovah’s Potters House Assembly in Francistown on Sunday, Ms Kereng said prayer was an important part of a Christian’s life and a way for mankind to pour out their hearts to God.

She urged Christians not to despair if their prayers were not answer quickly.

She said sometimes it took time, ‘but that does not mean God would answer. If we are patient, we will see the answers to our prayers’.

Minister Kereng further indicated that prayer provided solutions to problems since it invited God to intervene and therefore appealed to everyone not to stop serving God.

She said had it not been for prayer, she could have fallen into temptation looking at the problems she faced in life, before assuming her ministerial position.

“I never stopped serving the Lord no matter what happened. I lived a life of loving the enemy, I rose against my enemies,” she added.

She commended the leadership of Jehovah’s Potters House Assembly for being committed to God, saying the church had grown in a short period of time, despite the challenges it faced.

Founder of the Jehovah’s Potters House Assembly, Prophetess Keorapetse Muzila, said the 10 years of the church’s existence were marred by trouble.

“There were a lot of stumbling blocks, but with wisdom and faith in God, the church managed to made a breakthrough,” she said.

Ms Muzila said the church was formed in 2009, with 10 congregants meeting in a sitting room, but only got registered in 2011.

She said in three weeks, the church had to look for another worship place because the numbers of followers had increased.

“We moved to Selepa, where again we worshipped in a larger sitting room, before we moved to Somerset where we worshiped in a VDC shelter,” she added.

Ms Muzila said in 2012, they then purchased a piece of land, which the church was still paying, adding that the church had branches in Selebi Phikwe, Tutume and Shashemooke, with the main branch in Francistown having over 5 000 registered members.

She appealed to the Christian community to pray against the COVID-19 pandemic and thanked Minister Kereng for gracing their occasion, adding that she was not only a minister in the church, but also a minister in the government. ends
