Radisele youth launches Im S.H.E Club

11 Jul 2021

Ms Itumeleng Johane, a 21-year-old of Radisele on Thursday launched a girl child empowerment club with the aim to contribute towards efforts to groom and nurture the society’s young girls.

According to Ms Johane, I’m S.H.E Club, as the club is aptly called, sought to inculcate a mindset change in young girls and help instill in them a sense of self-belief in their own abilities.

She said the name of the club symbolised the desire in her to have young girls believing in who they were and not being swayed by societal well as the existing gender stereotypes.

She said young girls should know and understand their strength because that would help them better appreciate that they were capable of achieving anything they set their minds to.

Breaking down the S.H.E acronym in the club’s name, Ms Johane said the objective behind the name was to encourage young girls to aspire to be strong, hardworking and extra-ordinary.

She said if realised, the three tenets would ensure that young girls did not stop at anything in the quest to realise their individual and collective dreams.

Ms Johane expressed hope to see an army of amazing young women emerging in every community in the country, saying seeing that also happening in her village of Radisele would be heartwarming.

Ms Johane, a second-year University of Botswana student, launched the club during an event at which she was donating sanitary pads and clothes at her former school, Radisele Junior Secondary School. ends
