Four hundred-metre sensation, Baboloki Thebe takes to the track tonight at 9pm in Stanisila France, hoping to use the race to qualify for the World Athletics Championships.
The championships are dabbed Oregon 22 as they will be held at Eugene, Oregon next year.
The meet’s qualifying period opened on June 27 this year and will close on June 26 next year and the 400-metre qualifying time remains 44.90.
In a telephone interview today, Thebe said his mission was to qualify early for both the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games, both billed for next year.
This time, he said he would not leave anything for the eleventh hour, adding that he had more races lined.
“I am confident that this time around if I remain healthy I will qualify well in time, and that alone will give me ample time to prepare for the competition,” he said.
Thebe failed to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games when he participated at the Spain meet on June 29, which was the deadline to qualify for the said Games.ENDS
