President Masisi encourages Zambians to celebrate Dr Kaunda

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has urged Zambians and the region to celebrate and carry on Dr Kenneth Kaunda’s rich legacy.
Delivering a message of condolences to the Zambian nation during Dr Kaunda’s funeral Friday (July2), he encouraged leaders to borrow a leaf from attributes he personified in forging unity, solidarity, commitment to multilateralism and international peace.
Further, Dr Masisi expressed gratitude for Dr Kaunda’s role in ushering in Botswana to the then Organisation of African Unity, as well as forging friendships between founding President of Botswana, Sir Seretse Khama and of Tanzania, Dr Julius Nyerere which he said were critical when frontline states movement was conceived.
He also appreciated Dr Kaunda’s role in championing the liberation of Southern Africa.
Dr Kaunda passed on in June 17 aged 97. Dr Masisi and his delegation returned home same day. Ends
