The ongoing Botswana Football Association training workshop dubbed Operation Time for Change augurs well for the development of football in Botswana, says Kagiso Magocha, Safety and Health Manager at Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines.
The training programme, which is held at Thapama Lodge in Francistown and is funded by FIFA involves 17 Regional BFA affiliates, including the two First Division Leagues in the North & South.
“I am told that out of this number over 101 are from BFA associate members including BISA, BOPSA, BOTESSA and FUB and that a total of over 133 are women.
This is certainly a commendable effort towards capacity building,” Magocha said.
The workshop provided training in planning, finance management, good governance, event management and stakeholder management to officials at both management and club leadership. To date help nearly 600 officials have benefitted from these workshops, he said.
Debswana First Division North League Committee chairperson, Jonas Ikgopoleng said the workshop provided a platform for participants to learn from each other and hoped they apply the training towards improving football in Botswana.
The consultant, Arshford Mamelodi urged participants to share what they had learnt with colleagues at their respective clubs. Ends
