President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi attended a virtual annual cabinet economic briefing by Bank of Botswana (BoB) in Gaborone June 28 in which coincided with the launch of the bank’s 2020 annual report.

The briefing covered BoB operations and audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2020 and reviewed foreign exchange reserves and related government arrangements’ performance and outlook.

The President and cabinet were also briefed on “The impact of COVID-19 pandemic on Botswana economy, policy responses and opportunities” covering an assessment of policy responses to the pandemic, resultant influence on the transformation agenda as well as the bank’s evaluation of prospects for emerging growth areas and how they could be effectively supported and harnessed to promote economic transformation, inclusive growth and transition to high-income status by 2036.
