Ghanzi District will benefit from green technology toilets pilot project, council chairperson, Mr Thato Tshweneyagae, has said.

Addressing a full council meeting on Tuesday, Mr Tshweneyagae said the district was among three selected councils to pilot construction of green technology toilets.

The pilot initiative, which was introduced by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, would improve access to sanitation facilities.

He said Ghanzi District had several households that did not have access to the sanitation facilities, which he said threatened to pollute the environment.

Mr Tshweneyagae said the district would be funded to procure 30 units of environmental friendly and pollution free toilets to benefit selected households in the township.

“I urge you members to ensure that our community accepts, participate and use the facilities provided,” said  Mr Tshweneyagae. ENDS
