Ministry warns of circulating fake email
15 Jun 2021
The Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation has issued a warning about a fake email message purporting to have originated from Minister Lemogang Kwape.
A news release from the ministry says the correspondence falsely claims that funding will be provided to small business and farming projects through the 2021 International Development Association (IDA) grant.
According to the release, the fake message, which is sent through infolkministerofforeihnaffairs@gmail.com, intends to extort funds from unsuspecting individuals.
“The ministry wishes to advise the public that Dr Kwape and the ministry are not facilitating the said grant as alleged in the fake message.
The public, therefore, is advised to report such fraudulent emails to the nearest Botswana police station,” says the release. ENDS
