Lack of land stumbling block to clinic construction

15 Jun 2021

Government has decided to build a clinic in D’kar, but the land issue has become a stumbling a block.

Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe said this when addressing a kgotla meeting at the village recently.

Mr Lelatisitswe explained that government had built houses for the health staff, but water connections had not been done due to land issues.

On COVID-19, Mr Lelatisitswe reiterated that it was government’s aim to have high risk people vaccinated and appealed to healthcare workers to be prudent when rolling out the COVID-19 vaccine.

He also challenged healthcare workers to encourage farm owners to observe COVID-19 health protocols.

For his part, Ghanzi North MP, Mr John Thiite was hopeful that the land issue would be dealt with, saying engagement with relevant stakeholders, being the community and the church council was ongoing.

Meanwhile, touring D’kar Health post, Mr Lelatisitswe hailed D’kar healthcare workers, saying the feedback he got from the village leadership suggested that they were serving the community well.

“Your efforts are commendable and it shows you are representing the ministry well,” he said. ENDS
