Tshukudu Metals donates to Dkar community

13 Jun 2021

Tshukudu Metals Botswana has donated a borehole to the D’kar community.

Senior Geologist at Tshukudu Metals, Mr Rodney Moagi, said the borehole was a request from the Kuru Development Trust in 2020.

He said in rehabilitating the community’s abandoned borehole, the company injected P61 500 and bought four 5 000 litres jojo tanks.

He said the project was motivated by the fact that water was an invaluable resource with high social, cultural, environmental and economic value and that access to water was a basic human right.

Coordinator of Kuru Development Trust, Mr Mangana Mangana, said the core mandate of the trust was to satisfy the social and economic needs of the community.

He was glad that they had achieved one of their milestones towards helping members of the community.

The chairperson of the Dutch Reformed Church council, Mr Gaobolelwe Ngakayaja also stated that the key existence of the trust was to look after the social need of D’kar inhabitants while the church focused on their spiritual needs. The area councillor, Mr Xukuri Xukuri said the donation came in handy particularly at a time of COVID-19.

He appealed to the community to make use of the donation by starting backyard gardening.

Earlier, in his welcome remarks, Kgosi Wynard Morris of D’kar expressed gratitude that the borehole would ease the water shortage in the village. The borehole is expected to benefit residents of Khooxase and Gxoxaxoo wards. ends
