Entrepreneurship is seen as one of the powerful tools that can help fight youth unemployment. 

This was realised by some youth who upon completing their internship programme, saw that their employment prospects were close to none and the only way to keep afloat was through some business venture.

The five young persons formed  Distinctive and Modern Bottle Manufacturing and Water Purification with funding from the Youth Development Fund (YDF) to a tune of P421 000 in the financial year 2019/2020.

The  Serowe based business, which was recently visited by the Assistant Minister youth empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Buti Billy, specialises in purified water, plastic bottle making and branding.

Speaking during his visit, the assistant minister said he was impressed by some youth projects which were funded through the YDF.  He said through the visit, he also wanted to appreciate the challenges they were facing.

The five youth who make up Distinctive and Modern Bottle Manufacturing and Water Purification company are Gofaone Chikunyana, general manager, Gofaone Ealotse, factory manager, Banyanabotlhe Tafila, Human Resource manager and Mpho Maikanngo and Otsetswe Chikunyana as production manager and marketing manager respectively.

Briefing the assistant minister, the team told him that the company was owned by people who were determined to hit targets.

They said as the management, they had to identify the competitor business’s strategies, gather feedback, review work progress and advice staff about the company policy regularly.

The team told the assistant minister how they value service delivery which was underpinned by reliability to build rapport with clients.

They said their biggest challenge had been the acquisition of a trading license which was rejected by health personnel and the Environmental Impact Assessment team.

Distinctive and Modern Company is a hundred per cent locally owned manufacturer of high quality and a wide variety of plastic bottles and purified water.

The company provides plastic bottles and water at a factory price. Ends
