Ipelegeng programme to avoid undue claims
08 Jun 2021
Ipelegeng coordinator, Mr Letsogile Seretse has said a decision has been taken to only engage artisans upon delivery of materials to avoid undue claims.
Addressing Ghanzi East Sub- council recently, Mr Seretse explained that in the past Ipelegeng programme lost funds without any output because artisans had to wait for materials to be on site.
“When the artisan is on site, we are expected to pay him or her,” he stated.
He noted that there was no disbursement yet for 2021/2022, but had submitted a Project Memorandum requesting over P16.9 million. Mr Seretse, however, stated that at the close of financial year, the programme had a balance of P 3 922 193 made from 2020/2021 savings.
He said the programme expenditure as at the end of May 2021 stood at P3 189 580 and the balance was now P 732 613.
Councillors pleaded that Ipelegeng programme should consider dedicating a small quota to old people who were already benefiting from other social programmes to meet the deficit.
Responding to the request, Ghanzi East senior assistant council secretary, Ms Mogomotsi Seemule cautioned that double dipping would disadvantage those who did not benefit from any programme. Ends
