07 Jun 2021
Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) has resolved to fund Kuke settlement Water Supply Master Plan project and Bere settlement Water Supply Augmentation project in-house instead of going the World Bank route, Ghanzi Sub-council assistant district officer - development has said.
Presenting the District Development Committee report to Ghanzi East Sub-council recently, Mr Kagiso Monnawatsie said both projects were removed from the World Bank portfolio due to their perceived long procurement procedures.
He said the projects, worth P15 million, would be treated as a single project and their duration had been revised from nine to four months because a trenchless technology would be used.
Tendering process of the project is underway.
WUC representative, Mr Seepamore Koolebatse assured that funds were available for the works and a single contractor would be engaged for both.
Kuke project entails equipping and solar electrification of the borehole as well construction of a transmission main to the reservoir while Bere project includes equipping, electrification of existing borehole and construction of a transmission main to service reservoir. Ends
