Balopi to attend International Labour Conference today

Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Mpho Balopi is scheduled to attend the 109th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC).
A press release from the ministry states that the conference, which starts today and ends on Friday, will be held virtually, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister Balopi is scheduled to address the conference on Wednesday at 2:15pm and the live address can be accessed on https://www.ilo.org/ilc/ILCSessions/109/live-coverage.
Attending the virtual conference with Mr Balopi are the ministry’s senior officials, labour movement representatives and employer organisations from Botswana.
The annual conference, the release says, is the highest decision-making body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and brings together tripartite delegations from governments, employers and workers from ILO’s 187 member states.
It is expected to address issues such as work in the time of COVID-19, iniquities and the world of work, skills and lifelong learning and a recurrent discussion on the strategy objective of social protection.ENDS
