Negligence of COVID-19 protocols worry police
03 Jun 2021
Gaborone West police have arrested 74 people for contravening COVID-19 protocols.
The arrested people were drinking beer and playing snooker during curfew hours.
Station Commander of Gaborone West police, Senior Superintendent Onious Madziba said the police were on patrol when they met a group of young people from bars and other prohibited places drinking beer.
Senior Superintendent Madziba said the incident was not the first in the same area as in April they arrested another group of the same age.
He noted that some of them shared beer and did not wear masks.
Senior Superintendent Madziba said it was unfortunate that people roamed the streets of the city at odd hours disregarding COVID-19 protocols.
He appealed to members of the public to obey the law, saying it did not help to pretend to be obeying the law when seeing the police. ends
