Online student service has multiple benefits
02 Jun 2021
An e-service platform for young people in need of tertiary education sponsorship launched this week will improve customer service and turnaround time.
This was said by Minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Dr Douglas Letsholathebe when launching the platform for the 2021/22 academic year on Tuesday.
He said in addition, the service would contribute to operational cost reduction, a move critical during the COVID-19 era.
“Students’ lives will be protected as the e-service would protect them from long queues that exposed them to COVID-19,” he said.
The minister said the platform would enable the youth to access services from the comfort of their homes or wherever they might be.
Dr Letsholathebe said in villages, Internet would be accessible at dikgotla.
The minister said tertiary education financing was a government priority explaining that DTEF was driving the vision 2036 mandate of transforming Botswana from a resource based to a knowledge based economy.
DTEF director Ms Neo Sebolao said the platform would soon be advertised on all electronic and print media platforms.
Describing the programme as stress free, Ms Sebolao said call centres and a technical team would be available to assist students.
She said the department was doing everything possible to help students study online without any difficulties.
Through e-learning students would shine and contribute to the development of the country, she said. ends
