Minet Group Africa Lighthouse Capital acquire Aon Botswana

02 Jun 2021

Minet Group and Africa Lighthouse Capital have acquired Aon’s shareholding in Aon Holdings Botswana.

Launching the new brand identity to conclude the transaction and transition to Minet Botswana in Gaborone on Tuesday, Minet Group CEO, Mr Joe Onsando said the addition of Minet Botswana to the growing African network affirmed their belief in the opportunities for growth that the continent offered. He said it was driven by rising consumer demand, huge investment in infrastructure and adoption of new technology.

Mr Onsando noted that the transaction added to the diversity and skills base of their team and would have a positive impact on the range of products and services provided.

“Our correspondent agreement with Aon gives us access to global expertise and data driven insights, and uniquely positions us to deliver risk advisory solutions that reduce volatility, thus driving improved performance for our clients,” he said.

For his part, Minet Botswana CEO, Mr Barnabas Mavuma said since Aon was constantly evaluating its global operations and the most effective way to serve clients, partnerships enabled operations to become more nimble and better positioned to unlock new and existing growth opportunities within a given country.

Mr Mavuma highlighted that the leadership of Minet Botswana would be made up of the existing Aon leadership team.

He further said Minet Botswana would become an Aon Global Network Correspondent, retaining its access to Aon’s resources, technology and best practices combined with the benefit of independent local agility.

“It will be business as usual for all our clients through the existing colleagues and carriers,” he said.

Meanwhile, Africa Lighthouse Capital founder and CEO, Mr Bame Pule said the increased Botswana citizen shareholding effected by the transaction gave rise to an exciting era of local market focus and growth for Minet Botswana.

He said they intended to work with Minet Botswana’s local management team to further localise the business in terms of product development while investing in local skills development and business development.

“We look forward to this exciting journey which will result in a significantly enhanced service offering for Minet Botswana clients,” he concluded. ends
