Preparations are underway to upgrade Gopong Primary School in Gopong village in the Good Hope Sub-district from a three stream to a full seven stream school.
This was announced by Good Hope Sub-district Council chairperson, Mr Boniface Leshomo in a speech to the sub- council meeting last week.
Mr Leshomo said preparations included drawings for architectural, structural and engineering designs.
He said preparation of a Bill of Quantities would be done after completion of the designs.
He said the upgrading would be carried under the backlog eradication project at a budget of P5.355 million.
Gopong primary is currently a three stream school enrolling standard one, two and three pupils only.
Mr Leshomo further told the meeting that there would be major maintenance projects at four primary schools in the sub-district.
He said the schools were Mokatako, Borobadilepe, Mmakgori and Mmathethe primary schools.
“The projects had been allocated P9 080 541.
Assessment of facilities has been done except for Mokatako Primary School.
Preparation of a Bill of Quantities is ongoing,” he said.
Regarding the planned construction of a community mini stadium in Good Hope, the chairperson informed the meeting that tenders had been awarded for two of the projects’ construction works.
These include tender for the proposed construction of two kiosks for the mini stadium, as well as tender for the proposed construction of two ablution blocks.
Mr Leshomo said tender for kiosks construction was awarded by the Adjudication Committee on April 7 at a total cost of P857 098, while the tender for ablution blocks was also awarded on the same date at a total cost of P1 203 283.
“Restricted domestic works contract for the proposed construction of a boundary wall and two ticket booths is still under evaluation,” he said.
He further said restricted domestic works contract for construction of office block with change rooms and water reticulation had been withdrawn by the adjudication committee. Ends
