Water situation in Mmankgodi to improve - Mzwinila
24 May 2021
Mmankgodi residents have been promised that the water situation in their village would improve come July.
Speaking in a kgotla meeting on Friday, the Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila said the completion of Masama project would result with more water pumped into Greater Gaborone area.
He said currently due to insufficient water supply, it was rationed between Mmankgodi and Ramotswa.
For his part, the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Edwin Dikoloti said the ministry would take over the clinic funded by independent organisations.
The MP for Gabane-Mmankgodi, Mr Kagiso Mmusi has sought funding for the clinic to be constructed in the village.
This came as the current one was housed in an old structure, which could not adequately accommodate a grown population and was also in need of maintenance.
Dr Dikoloti said the ministry would look into how the old clinic could be maintained and also increase the number of nurses.
He further said the medical doctor should serve the village once a week and not once a month.
However, residents said instead of waiting for July, the village had 11 boreholes, which should be used to supply them with water.
They also said they used to receive water from Ramaphatlhe boreholes.
Further, they said there was confusion on whether they should be connected Thamaga or Ramotswa water works. Ends
