Moshupa Sub Council advised to speed-up projects

Member of Parliament for Moshupa/Manyana, Mr Karabo Gare says Moshupa Sub-council should seek new and smarter ways of implementing projects to improve service delivery.
Mr Gare said this at the commissioning of the Moshupa 30-metre tower-light, which was constructed under the Constituency Community Project, with a budget allocation of P600 000.
In his remarks, Mr Gare implored them to ensure to follow the revised key priorities set by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi.
He said as the President had said at the previous cabinet retreat, the current global crisis caused by COVID-19, which had resulted in economic meltdown, had necessitated re-evaluation of the way government had been doing things.
On that note, he implored Moshupa Sub-council officials to effect broad-based change and speed up pace in their development agenda.
Mr Gare, also the Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, said through the tender, six people were offered employment, which meant that, it took a delay of 12 months to provide employment for them.
“We cannot accept to continue in this manner.
COVID-19 has shown that this economy has not diversified.
If we continue this way, we will have more difficulties,” he said.
The Minister, however, said he was pleased to be witnessing some notable development in his constituency.
Mr Gare said the tower-light would assist in deterring criminals who were terrorising the area, besides providing light for the public and improving the scenery in the village.
Meanwhile, Mr Gare called on all to familiarise themselves with the President’s key priorities.
He noted that Government has introduced key priorities with a view to improving service delivery and Botswana’s economic standing.
“Among government’s key priorities, the President mentioned the need to save Batswana from COVID-19 through implementation of life-saving programmes including successful and timely vaccination,” he said
The area Member of Parliament said President Masisi had set digitisation as another key priority because of its service delivery benefits and the immense potential to unlock and enable high productivity.
“Also on the high priority list is value chain development as it has the potential to unlock opportunities for new, high-growth companies and youth employment, among other citizen empowerment attributes,” he said.
For his part, Kgosi Oscar Mosielele of Moshupa applauded Moshupa Sub-district Council for their efforts in ensuring that the tower light was erected in the village.
“This marks a new level of another important milestone of the infrastructure in our village,” he said.
He said the light would help in reducing crime, which was extensive in the area. Ends
