Kuke primary faces solar system challenges
18 May 2021
Member of Parliament for Ghanzi North, Mr Johane Thiite, says Kuke Primary School solar system is insufficient to support school facilities, especially at night.
Speaking at a district leadership forum recently, Mr Thiite stated that due to the poor solar system, the hostels were rendered unsafe.
He said he had received reports that some perishables were kept at D’kar Primary School, adding that he had also been informed that at times, pupils had meals without meat because of the arrangement.
Officials from both council and central government said they were unaware that Kuke primary food items were stored at D’kar resulting in pupils sometimes having meals without meat.
Ghanzi deputy council secretary, Mr Omphile Mosweu, said it was unfortunate that they were not aware of the situation.
Meanwhile, in his briefing, Ghanzi District Council chairperson, Mr Thato Tshweneyagae, told the MP that primary schools in the area had reached their capacity, calling for a new primary school.
Mr Tshweneyagae said 10 classes were taught outside at Kgaphamadi and Kabakae primary schools.
He said even though they had informed the relevant ministry, it was also proper to engage the MP. ENDS
