16 May 2021

Member of Parliament for Kanye South is now a fully-fledged member of Extension Gunners.

Dr Lemogang Kwape officially registered for the club’s membership in Kanye near Mongala Mall recently.

Speaking after the registration, Dr Kwape said he came a long way with the club.

He shared that his love and support for the club dated as way back as 1978.

Dr Kwape, who is also Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, said Extension Gunners had always been the Southern District’s pride and joy.

He said it was thus important to cherish the fact that Gunners remained the only club that never relegated since joining the elite league in 1980, and implored supporters to stand up and be counted.

As a society, he explained that the team could only attract potential sponsors if they had a database of fully registered members, adding the more they registered, the merrier for the club.

Team’s communications manager, Gerald Mahumba viewed the development as a shot in the arm for the club.

He said they were excited that the minister would in countless ways lend enchantment and shape the club’s future.

He wished it could spur many Gunners well-wishers and unregistered members across the district and beyond to also register, further sharing that the Kanye branch was among the fastest growing in the country.

He said they were on a nationwide registration drive and have so far registered an upwards of 1 000 members nationwide.

Branch chairperson, Benson Mere was also excited, saying the minister’s joining of the club heralded great things ahead.

He also wished many other supporters could come on board and help grow the brand. ENDS
