Multiple pathways plan progress well-minister

The Minister of Basic Education, Mr Fidelis Molao, visited Moeng College to check progress on the multiple pathways introduced at the school.
Mr Molao said multiple pathways would equip Moeng pupils with knowledge on farming so that they could pursue agriculture at the end of their studies.
He further said he appreciated cooperation and unity between the community, teachers and pupils as it showed their determination to see the introduced pathways succeeding.
Meanwhile, principal education officer - agriculture, Mr Joseph Morebodi, elaborated more about the government multiple pathways, which had been introduced at Moeng College and Maun Senior Secondary School.
He said Moeng had been given agriculture, mainly horticulture, field crop production and animal husbandry.
Mr Morebodi said they had been given a plot of 312 hectares, in which 27 hectares were already in use.
He said they had received 47 goats from some junior schools in the country and two pigs, adding that the equipment needed for the project was already available.
Furthermore, he explained that eight houses would be constructed to enhance the learning environment.
He also said veterinary officers had assisted them by making kraals and providing other infrastructural developments.
Mr Morebodi said the project was progressing well and they had already planted fruit trees such as mangoes, paw-paws, oranges and nectars, They had goats, cattle, sheep, chicken and ostriches.
He said fish ponds were almost ready.
For his part, director of regional operations central, Mr Sonny Mooketsi, said the minister toured phase one of the project, while the second phase would kick-off at the end of phase one.
He said pupils, parents and the community had received the pathways well and working together to ensure that people all over the country benefitted.
Lerala-Maunatlala MP, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele said he was delighted to see the education multiple pathways being implemented regardless of the challenges of COVID-19.
He said the project would develop skills for the job market and equip pupils with managerial skills, particularly that agriculture was based on practical work than theory.
“We are with you in this project so that at the end of the day we can produce food for our country or be food export land,” said Mr Modukanele.
MP Modukanele encouraged pupils to focus on the ball regardless of the challenges that they might encounter for the success of the project.
He said he wished to see Moeng College impacting on the lives of Batswana.
Councillor for Ratholo/Majwaneng, Mr Daniel Ookame appreciated the minister and the area MP for visiting them during the difficult times of COVID-19 in order to make sure that the project is proceeding well. ends
