UB strengthens relationship with DHMT
10 May 2021
In effort to strengthen the relationship University of Botswana through Faculty of Medicine (UBFoM) donated equipment worth P60 000 to Gaborone District Health Management (DHMT).
When handing the donation to the Head of Gaborone DHMT, the Dean Faculty of Medicine Prof Oathokwa Nkomazana noted that UBFoM had been working with Gaborone DHMT clinics for more than five years through the clinical placements programme.
Prof Nkomazana highlighted that in order to strengthen the relationship and as a token of appreciation, the UB saw it fit to procure 14 patients benches, 14 examination couches and 14 patients screens which were identified as needed the most in most clinics.
She further explained that the relationship between UB and Gaborone DHMT was fruitful as students learn by providing clinical services and clinics were also assisted by students in discharging their duties.
Current best medical education evidence show that such relationships are vital for student learning and should be continually strengthened, said Prof Nkomazana.
Prof Nkomaza said that the equipment would be distributed to 14 different clinics around Gaborone where students would be placed.
When receiving the donation Head of Gaborone DHMT Dr Mothusi Mogatle applauded UBFoM for their concerted effort, adding that the donation could not have come at a better time when the equipment was in high demand in most of the clinics. Ends
