Non compliance worries Kgosi Masisi

Kgosi Tshwaro Masisi of Mabesekwa in the Tonota Sub-district has complained about gross violation of COVID-19 protocols by his subjects.
Kgosi Masisi made the remarks during a kgotla meeting between Mabesekwa Village Development Committee (VC) members and the Member of Parliament for Tonota constituency, Mr Pono Moatlhodi on Wednesday. He said he was forced, on more than one occasion, to wake up in the middle of the night to go and restore order at some homes.
“Ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 last year and the subsequent health protocols, our people have disappointed me. They do not wear masks and hardly practice social distancing and this has gotten me worried,” he said.
MP Moatlhodi expressed shock at the news and called for restraint by residents. Going against government established protocols, he said, was improper and needed correction.
“We are not going to tolerate this behaviour. Let us all heed the call by authorities or the law will have to take its course,” he warned.
Meanwhile, Mr Moatlhodi, who hailed government employees for doing a sterling job, was not happy with the state of the Tonota/Mabesekwa gravel road.
He was concerned that the contractor who had been awarded the tender was taking long to complete the work. He also questioned the quality of work done on the road.
“It is high time the roads department scrutinises the companies they award tenders to and ensure the right people win such tenders. This will help ensure works are done within schedule, on budget and in accordance with the specifications of the scope of work,” he said.
Roads department senior technical officer, Mr Othusitse Motsage acknowledged that there had been delays and apologised to residents.ends
