The Vice President, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe has called on Mogapinyana Youth Association to turn their P648 000 metalworks community project into a profitable business.

Addressing a kgotla meeting at Mogapinyana on October 7, Dr Kedikilwe urged the association to work hard and ensure that the project benefits the community. He said should the project prove to be unprofitable, the association should venture into a different project which would improve the livelihood of Mogapinyana community.

The project, he said, belonged to the community and funds generated from the sale of goods should benefit them. He also said it was important for the association to give the community an audited financial report. The project was aimed at alleviating poverty in the community by generating income and creating employment.

The Vice President stressed that the association should take the responsibility of updating the community and himself continuously on the progress of the project.  He said if the association failed to give the required information, action should be taken.

On other issues, Dr Kedikilwe said he wanted peace between Mogapinyana and Kgagodi residents because their conflict had divided the two communities and affected development. He urged Mogapinyana residents to register for general elections, adding that the decision taken by the demarcation committee could not be reversed.

The community was urged to accept the decision taken regarding Mogapinyana polling district as changes could only be made after 10 years following the next delimitation committee.

Dr Kedikilwe also urged those whose identity cards were about to expire to apply for new ones as the identity card was a ticket to casting a vote during elections.

Residents had complained that the demarcation committee divided Mogapinyana into two parts, one part had been incorporated into Kgagodi/Diloro polling district whilst the remaining portion was extended into nearby cattle posts and ploughing fields. Ends
