Trust rescues person with disability

Losika Trust, a non-governmental organisation and Gospel Revival Centre Church have been praised for giving back to the community.

Boseja North councillor, Mr Limit Banyatsang praised the two institutions during a ceremony to handover a new wheelchair to a 41-year-old man living with disability.

He said despite the impact of COVID-19, the two entities saw it fit to extend a helping hand to Mr Goitsemodimo Somolekae, a less privileged member of society. He said the pandemic needed a religious intervention, and that giving was a noble deed that opened avenues for more blessings.

“We will take the donation as a blessing and a lesson that we must look after our neighbours regardless of their status or background,” he said.

The trust founder, Mr Pelotshweu Machibe said the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility, adding that he recieved a request from Prophet Olorato Sabipa who shared the beneficiary’s plight.

He said the trust believed in the power of giving and that they had achieved measurable success in the last few years having given to the less privileged people living with disabilities, the elderly and various organisations.

Mr Machibe said the trust also believed that no one should be left behind regardless of their disability, sickness or any circumstance, adding that giving was the first symbol of love and that it connected people with God.

He noted that the Bible encouraged all to love their neighbours, hence Christians should give where there was need.

Boseja North social worker, Ms Lichizani Dobela thanked the trust and the church for extending a helping hand to Mr Somolekae, saying the donation would make a huge difference in his life.

She said the beneficiary, who stayed alone, had been suffering because his old wheelchair limited his mobility.

Prophet Sabipa revealed that they approached the trust because it had the power to give and had been doing a good job in improving the lives of members of the community.

He said following their plea to the trust, it assisted Mr Somolekae who was a church member and his former school mate.

The trust, he said, had shown that love could see beyond barriers as they came all the way from Gaborone to touch lives in Maun.

Prophet Sabipa thanked the trust and encouraged it to continue with the good spirit, adding that lending a helping hand was a demonstration of the love of Christ. Ends
