Commit to business goals - Regoeng

26 Apr 2021

Aspiring youth entrepreneurs have been encouraged to commit to what they intend to achieve when they start businesses.

This was said by Molepolole North Member of Parliament, Mr Oabile Regoeng at a one-day youth forum which intended to empower them on business related issues.

Mr Regoeng said it was only through perseverance, dedication and determination that their dream to become successful entrepreneurs could be realised.

“Let us work hard to try and overcome challenges that are common in every business set-up and remain focused on what we plan doing.

You need to be smart in your operations and do the right thing to avoid pointing accusing fingers. You also need to introspect to establish whether you are still on the right track to avoid businesses that collapse prematurely,” he advised.

He challenged them to venture into viable businesses that offered quality products that were ready to penetrate both the local and international markets.

“Pricing is critical in every business operation. Over pricing and under pricing have the potential to negatively impact on the business, and it is important to move along the market price,” he added.

He further emphasised the need to look into key areas that would make their businesses grow such as market access, export facilitation as well as effective collaboration and partnership.

LEA branch manager, Mr Joseph Lemme advised participants to make use of services offered by the institution by coming up with business plans to guide what they planned to do.

“Do not hesitate to seek help from relevant officers to provide guidance on how to develop business plans because it is a requirement for every business establishment,” advised Mr Lemme.

Assistant district commissioner, Ms Maitumelo Maemo encouraged the youth to intensify their efforts in creating quality projects that would contribute positively to employment creation and food production.

Ms Maemo also encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to take bold steps and to have the desire to break the cycle of poverty in Kweneng District in order to help fight social ills that make Molepolole a red zone in Gender Based Violence that make young people even more vulnerable.

For his part, CEDA representative, Mr Unami Mokobi bemoaned the trend of individuals approaching the agency for money when they lacked the eagerness to drive the business resulting in the collapse of businesses at the infancy stage.

Kgosi Kgari III commended the MP for his zeal on youth welfare issues and encouraging them to venture into business. He also encouraged the youth to have plans that would direct their vision as well as to continue their drive and passion.

He also urged them to work amidst COVID-19 obstacles that continued to impact business operations ENDS
