Botswana Softball Association (BSA) has endorsed Katlholo Mosimanegape as its new president during the elective general assembly held in Gaborone on Saturday.

Mosimanegape, who is not a novice in softball spheres, was the vice president for two consecutive terms from 2012 -2018.

He stood unopposed for the softball’s higher position.

Badika Mosweu was elected vice president after beating Batsetswe Gontlafetse with a slim margin of 13-12.

For the position of secretary, Nozibonela Payet won against Same Molete with a notable margin of 15 -9.

Letsweletse Jonas was elected as the public relations and marketing officer, after he garnered 15 votes against his opponent Boingotlo Marope elected by 10 delegates.

BSA treasurer is Puso Kgosietsile while Abel Mataboge is competition’s organisor, who were both unopposed.

For the position of technical development officer, Monkgogi Thakgathi beat Kenneth Kopano and Bobby Khupe after he was voted by 15 delegates, while the two, received seven and three votes respectively.

In his acceptance speech, the new softball president expressed appreciation towards the delegates as such showed that they trusted them to run the BSA.

“This is the game that we all love and we cannot afford to be bystanders when we are all capable to contribute to the growth of softball,” he said.

He said it was paramount that all those who had been elected into office delivered the mandate of leading softball.

Furthermore, Mosimanegape said together with other committee members, they were committed to taking the game to greater heights.

Mosimanegape said the COVID-19 pandemic had affected sport in general, adding that it was therefore important that they leverage on the situation to change the way of doing their business.

He said technology was now the way to go, hence meetings had been held virtually.  As such, he  reminded the committee to always be on the alert to deal with some issues virtually.

Softball, he said had a broader clientele and as a result, he advised that people should desist from attacking each other through different media platform as that had potential to chase people who could help softball. Ends
