Buy locally-Kwape

Kanye South Member of Parliament, Dr Lemogang Kwape has encouraged government departments in the Southern district to source goods and services locally to boost rural economies.
He said this during a consultative meeting with Kanye South councillors in Kanye on Wednesday. He said local empowerment was at the heart of the government’s agenda.
Dr Kwape, also Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation explained that sourcing goods and services from local suppliers could go a long way in boosting rural economies and creating numerous job opportunities especially for the unemployed young people across the country.
The minister was concerned that some public institutions still sourced locally available goods and services in places outside their locations at the expense of local entrepreneurs.
This he said, defeated the spirit of local empowerment and urged councillors to encourage them to look within the district first, whenever they wished to purchase goods and services.
On other issues, Dr Kwape urged the councillors to be proactive on community issues and be visible on the ground.
He shared that government through Constituency Community Projects funds would drill and equip a borehole in Betesankwe and further equip the other two in Tsonyane and Seherelela to address dire water shortage. He said the kgotla office in Seherelela would also be renovated. Ends
