Professional communication is critical to the process of building a career, IDM country director, Dr Onalenna Seitio-Kgogwe has said.
Dr Seitio-Kgokgwe was speaking at a one-day training workshop on professional communication and customer service in Molepolole on Tuesday, which was also meant to appreciate Tshegetsang Junior Secondary School’s achievement.
She indicated that professional communication began with self-awareness to creation of a personal brand on how to effectively influence others through the use of communication tools.
She applauded the school for effectively mobilising its internal resources and skills to outperform itself in achieving desired results.
She advised the school community to be mindful of the fact that aspects of training were aimed at reminding them about the importance of customers in every organisation.
“As a school you have many stakeholders and it is how you serve your customers that will define you as an entity.
She further encouraged them to be proud of themselves since they were aware that there were many schools in the Kweneng region offering the same product and the only thing that would make them appear differently from others was how you offer the best service to customers.
Meanwhile, IDM regional director, Mr Richard Malikongwa, encouraged Tshegetsang community to be focused and have clear understanding of customers’ perceptions of value for money across lines of business.
Mr Malikongwa also challenged the school management to be leaders who would inspire other people than operate as managers where people would be persuaded to do things against their will.
Again, he encouraged them to be game changers so they could change lives of others as well as develop a habit for success.
Kweneng regional director operations, Mr Steve Bothasitse, said Tshegetsang JSS was where it was because it emerged victors in its strategic presentation on how it planned to improve academic performance.
The idea behind the assignment given to schools in the Kweneng region, Mr Bothasitse said, was to make them come with strategies based on issues, implications, actions and accountability, where Tshegetsang outlined its strategic plan on how it intended to improve academic performance.
The brilliant presentation, he said, accorded the school an opportunity for particular training offered by IDM on professional communication and customer service so it would become problem solver and grow in its work. ENDS
