COVID-19 increases demand for feminine products
21 Apr 2021
With some women and girls unable to afford feminine products due to the effects of COVID-19, Spar Wentzel and Tsetseng have come on board to break the period poverty.
The retail giant on Tuesday donated sanitary pads worth P20 000 to Kgetheng Primary School in Ramotswa.
When handing over the donation, Wentzel Spar human resource manager, Ms Esther Mafa, said some parents could not afford to buy sanitary pads for their daughters due to job losses and financial constraints.
She noted that sanitary pads played a big role in a girl’s life, hence Spar donating to needy schools around the country.
Acting deputy head, Mr Olebile Modisane, said sanitary wear was in high demand in his school.
He said the gesture would restore dignity in the girl-child and also provide a good learning experience during menses.
Mr Modisane further appealed to other business entities to follow in Spar’s footsteps. ENDS
