When handing over the donation, chairperson of the club, Mr Unangoni Mokgethi said they were honoured to be lending a helping hand to the school.

He said their 54-member club was a non-profit making organisation, which was established in 2020.

Mr Mokgethi said members contributed out of their own volition and there after assisted needy members of the community.

He added that this time around they chose Mantshwabisi primary as a way of reaching out to pupils’ welfare.

Letlhakeng Sub-district senior assistant council secretary, Mr Joseph Segopa, said they were grateful for the donation, which came amidst challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Segopa said the donation came at the right time since the sub-district was inundated with a number of challenges that included poverty among many families.

He therefore said their funds had been negatively affected due to over expenditure brought in by COVID-19.

These kinds of donations, Mr Segopa said, would assist schools, which had hostel like Mantshwabisi primary.

In her motivational speech, Ms Bonolo Segone who is also a member of the club, encouraged pupils to focus on their education and excel in everything they did.

She reminded them that education remained the only inheritance that no one could snatch from them, therefore pupils should strive to attain knowledge, set their goals right and go all-out to achieve them.

The school head, Ms Sethunya Mmusi, said their school had 476 pupils; 247 e boys and 229 girls. A total of 318 resided in the hostels.

She said the hostels accommodated pupils from surrounding areas, among them, Lerulakala and Masope.

Ms Mmusi said the donation would go a long way in addressing shortage of toiletry in the school.

She was happy that the donation would  boost morale of the pupils and motivate them to do well.

She said the school performance was not yet satisfactory and they were working around the clock to help pupils perform better.

The area councillor, Mr Meshack Tshenyego, appreciated the donation.

He urged the school management to use the donation wisely especially that the sub-council was going through financial difficulties.

Mr Tshenyego was thankful that the club had also agreed to donate a photocopying machine to the school, a move that would addressed this shortage.

He commended BMW club for proving to be important and relevant to the society and urged them to continue doing a great work of assisting the community.ENDS
