First Lady continues to empower vulnerable women

In her continued endeavours to empower vulnerable women in the country, the First Lady, Ms Neo Masisi, recently donated two sewing machines to the Sehithwa community.
The sewing machines were received by Sehithwa village development committee as custodians of the gift.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ms Masisi noted that much as government was committed to uplifting the lives of Batswana through some programmes, it was also the responsibility of able individuals to extend a helping hand to fellow citizens who were in need.
“Today I am here handing over industrial sewing machines and I hope these will better your income generation as VDC, as you will be able to produce material such as school uniforms and supply,” she said.
The first lady said tailoring could be a lucrative business and therefore encouraged them, as fellow women, to work hard and better their lives, because she knew they were capable
She also encouraged women to take advantage of businesses such as poultry production, saying they could change their lives for the better.
When receiving the machines, Sehithwa VDC chairperson, Ms Maletelo Molathiwa, commended Ms Masisi for the noble gesture and thanked her for having chosen their village as beneficiaries.
“This gift will surely bring change to our lives, both VDC and the community at large. We promise to fully utilise these machines and we promise better results as well,” she said.
On a different matter, Ms Masisi urged Batswana to collectively stand up and fight ills such as gender based violence. ENDS
