15 Apr 2021

Five pupils from Lotlaamoreng Junior Secondary School who obtained grade A in last year’s Junior Certificate examinations were recently gifted P1 000 each by former pupils, Mr Tsone Nthutang and Dr Ratang Mokgosi, who works as a dentist in Good Hope.

Dr Mokgosi stated during a mini 2021 excellence award ceremony that the gifts were meant to appreciate the pupils, whom she encouraged to know who they were and what they wanted in life.

Being a dentist, she said did not just fall on her lap, but had to work hard at school.

“Be hungry for knowledge and develop self-confidence,” Dr Mokgosi advised and urged them to be persistent.

She said excelling put them in a better position to attain scholarships to study abroad like she did. The school head, Ms Baratang Bokete stated that the partnership dated back to 2017 when Mr Nthutang would buy school uniform for pupils who passed with grade A.

She said the school aimed for the best and the inclusion of stakeholders such as the duo encouraged the school to perform even better. Ms Bokete appealed to stakeholders to adopt the school in order to help shape the pupils’ future. Form One and Two pupils who performed well also received gifts.

One of the pupils, who is now doing Form Four at Good Hope senior, Boikanyo Kgositau said being aware that his life mattered got him to where he was.

Boikanyo said his journey was not without setbacks, but he overcame.

His motto: I can, I will and I must, bore results and he thanked the school management for encouraging him. ends
