Over 1500 Letlhakeng Sub-district residents receive COVID-19 jab
13 Apr 2021
Some 1 545 Letlhakeng residents aged 55 and above have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
In an interview with BOPA yesterday, Letlhakeng Sub-district deputy district commissioner Ms Ikgopoleng Lekoape said since the vaccination drive commenced on April 6, nine villages of Letlhakeng, Takatokwane, Motokwe, Moshaweng, Salajwe, Kaudwane, Diphuduhudu, Khekhenye and Ditshegwane had been covered.
She said the sub-district was given only 1 520 doses which had proved insufficient for inoculating all those who had turned up.
Ms Lekoape expressed satisfaction with the positive public response and the fact that no adverse effects to the vaccine had been registered.
On the COVID-19 situation in the sub-district, Ms Lekoape said there were currently 190 active cases out of which 187 were isolating at home while three were at designated facilities.
Overall the sub-district had registered 919 recoveries and 13 deaths, she said.
The deputy district commissioner said home isolation, prompted by shortage of accommodation at COVID-19 facilities, was proving to be a challenge with clients flagrantly disobeying health protocols.
She said young people were proving the most difficult to deal with. Ends
