08 Oct 2013

BDF XI continued their winning stream by beating Motlakase 1-0 at Swallows grounds at Palapye on Sunday, October 6.

Their win placed them on the first spot that was momentarily held by Mochudi Centre Chief after beating Notwane by a goal to nil on Saturday. Motlakase now tasted a loss since commencement of the season as it had won a game, and shared the spoils in two games before the BDF encounter. BDF’s sole goal was scored by the team captain, Mokgathi Mokgathi in the dying minutes of the first half when the hosts' defense failed to clear the ball in the sixteenth area.

Mokgathi capitalised on their mistake, giving Motlakase keeper no chance by putting the ball in the far post. Motlakase had numerous chances, but failed to convert some while the BDF goal minder, Takudzwa Ndoro denied them some scoring chances during the second half when they were piling pressure.
Phillip Ofhithile failed to utilize a header opportunity from a corner kick cross and later Ndoro denied Abdul Phiri a goal from a free kick position outside the eighteen area.

BDF also squandered some chances that they created. Despite the loss, Motlakase head coach, Oris Radipotsane said they played well and attributed the loss to lack of concentration. Radipotsane said they should work on their finishing touches because they had created many chances but failed to convert them to goals.
The absence of their regular mid- fielder, Jomo  Bolofete   whose role was played by Malepa  Bolelang   slightly affected their game plan, he said.

Though he said Bolelang played well he said the player was lacking pace during the attack. Meanwhile, BDF coach,Letang Rasta Kgengwenyane  explained that the game was tough and pointed out  that for a very long time, they have not played on a ground that had no turf/grass.

“Though we practice on the ground without turf/grass, competition and practice are different” coach Kgengwenyane said, adding that it is a learning platform for his team. Further, he stated that “Motlakase have previously played some league games in these conditions”

He noted that because the field was small, they tried to change their usual 4-3-3 formation to 4-4-2. Later, he said, they went back to their usual ‘4-3-3.' ENDS
