Three days after the demise of Kgosi Kose Kebuang of Khonkhwa village due to COVID-19, the nearby village of Keng also lost its leader due to a similar cause.
Kgosi Keagolotswe Phaladi, who was 69-years-old, died this past Saturday at Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital (SKMTH), where he was admitted.
Speaking in an interview with BOPA, his son, Mr Lemogang Barolong indicated that Kgosi Phaladi would be buried either this Wednesday of Thursday.
“We are still in the process of transporting his body from Gaborone to Keng and because protocol dictates that COVID-19 victims should be buried within four days, we are planning to bury him not later than Thursday,” he said.
He said that Kgosi Phaladi became ill on March 28, and was diagnosed with coronavirus the following day.
“He was then put on home isolation, and after about a week without any improvement, he was taken to an isolation centre in Jwaneng.
He was later transferred to SKMTH on April 7, where he passed away on Saturday,” he said.
Kgosi Phaladi, who leaves behind a widow, three sons and four daughters, has been at the helm of the small village of Keng along the Sekoma-Tsabong route since 1996 after taking the reins from his late father, Kgosi Barolong Phaladi. Ends
