Young Africa Botswana donates

11 Apr 2021

Kgosi Oageng Mosole of Old Naledi says with the coronavirus pandemic spreading like wildfire, Personal Protective Equipment was more important than ever.

Receiving a donation of 2 500 face masks at Old Naledi kgotla from Young Africa Botswana (YAB), on Friday, Kgosi Mosole said the donation could not have come at a better time when the masks were in high demand in his area.

The chief, who received the masks on behalf of the Old Naledi community, noted that the masks would also help curb the spread of the disease as the area was of low income population.

Kgosi Mosole further encouraged other stakeholders and the community at large to come on board to give support on a continuous basis, adding that it was possible to overcome challenges, provided they collectively contributed to finding solutions to the current difficulties.

Handing over the donation, YAB executive director, Ms Jelena Mitrovic noted that the masks were made by Botswana National Service Programme (BNSP) participants from the three groups that were part of the project themed Educating and Protecting Communities Against COVID-19.

She explained that 100 BNSP participants benefited from the project and acquired basic sewing and entrepreneurship skills together with public speaking.

As part of the training, the participants made 9 000 masks that were distributed to needy communities including Gaborone West, Kumakwane and Old Naledi.

The project was cofounded  by US Embassy in Botswana in partnership with the MYSC. Ends
