29 Mar 2021
Strategic interpersonal and corporate skills are considered key for one to excel in their career.
This was said by the Boteti East Constituency office research officer, Mr Bona Machinya during a workshop aimed at equipping the youth with public speaking, oratory skills, leadership skills and personal development recently.
He said a successful speech was the product of a careful negotiation between an individual and society.
He urged them to develop agility, practice and understand each leadership style in detail.
Mr Machinya stated that for one to have good oratory and public speaking skills, one should overcome anxiety, set the tone of speech, and know the audience as well as tone variations.
The council chairperson Mr Molemi Galeragwe encouraged the youth to always practice their speech before they could present it to the public.
Mr Galeragwe stated that one should understand the purpose of the gathering and should conduct research on the topic to be presented as well as have confidence in the topic to be presented.
The topic to be presented, he said, should be clear, easy to understand and relevant to the audience.
He stated that public speech presenter should have a strategy in place to address all groups of people, adding that a leader should not be greedy and should not be too humble and submissive.
Kgosi Dira Galeragwe of Tawana West implored the youth to put in practice what they learnt from the workshop.
