Police in Serowe are investigating the death of a seven-month-old baby.
In an interview, Serowe Police Station Commander, Superintendent Poloko Oteng said the incident took place at Mmamoruntshi lands on March 19.
He said the parents of the deceased were a 21-year-old man from Mmashoro and a 21-year-old woman from Mmopi Ward in Serowe.
Superintendent Oteng said the baby’s death followed an alteration between his parents, which led to the father taking the baby when he left the scene.
He said the infant’s father was found unconscious the following day with no baby in sight.
Supt. Oteng said the young man was suspected to have consumed a poisonous substance and was rushed to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital where he was currently admitted.
The baby was later found motionless at his parents’ house and was rushed to hospital where he was certified dead upon arrival. The cause of his death is unknown and under investigation.
He said the police were yet to question the father.
The Station Commander advised couples to avoid conflicts that could lead to fights, suicide, murder or any harm. ENDS
