Gweta-Dzoroga road part of tender

22 Mar 2021

Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Thulagano Segokgo says the damaged section of the Gweta-Dzoroga road was part of the tender for the reconstruction of the Nata-Maun road. He noted that the tender for the road was evaluated and was recommended for re-tendering since none of the seven bidders, who submitted bids, met the requirements of the tender.

“The Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) in their sitting of Thursday, 18 February 2021 approved the request by the Roads Department to re-tender this project. My ministry is currently working on the Invitation to Tenderers (ITT) for re-tender and is expected to be submitted for vetting by end of March 2021,” he said.

Mr Segokgo said the maintenance of the Gweta-Dzoroga road had not been adequately done as planned due to a shortage of graders. He added that his ministry would grade the badly damaged sections every two months as a temporary intervention whilst the-tendering was ongoing. He also noted that the last grading on the section of the road was done in February 2021.

he Member of Parliament for Nata/Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga had asked the minister if he was aware that ever since viewing the damaged portion of the Gweta–Dzoroga road, no maintenance or reconstruction had taken place as previously promised and agreed.ends
