In an effort to empower the local community, Gamalete Development Trust has donated 54 copies of the book titled: Transforming Curriculum for Quality Education and Globalization Challenges to various stakeholders.  

The beneficiaries included junior and senior schools in the Ramotswa constituency, Tlokweng kgotla, libraries in the district, Botswana Police College, Bamalete Lutheran School of Nursing and kgotla in Ramotswa, Otse, Taung and Mogobane. 

Speaking during the donation on Tuesday, Balete deputy chief, Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi said the books were a gift to Gamalete Development Trust and Kgosi Mosadi Seboko by Dr Lillian Mokgosi and Professor Agreement Jotia, who edited the book. 

Kgosi Mokgosi said the books would go a long way in transforming the education system as well as improving the livelihoods of the community.

He said as bogosi, they had been mandated to promote the welfare of their communities, hence they used any opportunity to empower their community.

Kgosi Mokgosi said education was key to developing the livelihoods of the community and added that the book could empower its readers to be better.

Further, he thanked the donors for the gifts, adding that writing books were a means of making income, hence the authors had  deprived themselves of what they could accrue from the books sale by donating to the community. 

Gamalete Development Trust chairperson, Ms Gertrude Matsietsa said information-sharing was crucial to the development of mankind.

She thanked the editors of the book for having decided to share their knowledge with the community. 

Ms Matsietsa said the Trust had taken a decision to avail the book in tribal administration offices in order to encourage people at tribal offices to read.     

South East District chief education officer, Mr Monty Rakgabo said Bogosi played a crucial role in the development of the education sector. 

He said there was a need for the learners to apply whatever they had learnt within the classroom to better their livelihoods after school. ends
