Matshekge tests Form 4s for Covid-19

16 Mar 2021

Form Four pupils reporting for boarding at Matshekge Hill Senior Secondary School were tested for COVID-19, on Monday.

The 447 newbies will join the 387 Form Fives who reopened two weeks back after temporary suspension of teaching and learning at the institution on February 3, owing to escalating COVID-19 cases.

At the time, 183 pupils and 30 staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

Currently, the school has only one active case by a staff member, school’s COVID-19 coordinator, Ms Rebaone Mokone has revealed.

After testing the boarders, the school will have day scholars tested on Tuesday, as a measure to nip in the bud any chances of spreading the disease in case some pupils report positive.

Ms Mokone said that the school had learnt from the previous experience and had prepared thoroughly to ensure containment of the virus in case some pupils tested positive.

Some facilities have been prepared and readied for isolation in case of some eventuality, Ms Mokone explained.

The school’s COVID-19 coordinator explained that the school was working in conjunction with Bobonong District Health Management Team, which had proposed overarching tests for all the incoming students.

All arriving students have been divided into houses to rid congestion, Ms Mokone explained and added that 10 registration and testing cubicles were provided for speedy execution of tests. ends
