Ministry considers fence rehabilitation
16 Mar 2021
The Ministry of Transport and Communications through Botswana Railways (BR) is considering the rehabilitation of the fence along the railway line from Palapye to Serule once funds are available.
When answering a question in Parliament, Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Thulagano Segokgo said the ministry was aware of the state of the fence between Palapye and Serule and the rest of the railway line network.
He also stated that efforts were being made through local BR teams to progressively rehabilitate sections of the railway line fence.
Mr Segokgo also highlighted that the railway line reserve fence was renewed and upgraded from barbed wire strands to veld-span stock-proof fence in 2005 and following that exercise, cases of vandalism had been on the increase throughout the entire network including the Palapye to Serule section.
Serowe North MP, Mr Baratiwa Mathoothe had asked minister when he would consider rehabilitating the fence along the railway line from Palapye to Serule as the current one was in a bad state. Ends
