Budget constraints hamper plans to upgrade health posts
14 Mar 2021
The Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Setlhomo Lelatisitswe says while the government plans to upgrade health posts across the country into clinics, it cannot do so due to budgetary constraints.
Answering a question in Parliament on Thursday, Minister Lelatisitswe said under the government policy, any village with a population of 1000 people should have a clinic.
He said Debswana had started a clinic project in Maboane in Takatokwane constituency adding the government had planned to upgrade clinics in Ditshegwane, Dutlwe and Sesung under ESP but the plans were affected by lack of funds.
The minister said they currently offered services similar to clinic by employing enough number of nurses and providing required resources.
Takatokwane MP Mr Friction Leuwe had asked the minister if he was aware that clinics in the Takatokwane Constituency operated from structures built and meant for health posts. Ends
