Selokolela community hall nears completion

14 Mar 2021

Selokolela community hall is nearing completion with minimal construction works left to wind up the project.

Speaking during a tour of the facility on Friday, Kanye Administrative Authority chairperson, Mr Simon Ramaphoi said the multi-faceted facility was 95 per cent complete and needed some finishing touches for it to open doors to the public.

The facility that comprised the ablution block, offices, sound port and change rooms was built at the tune of P1.3 million.

Mr Ramaphoi shared that the multi-faceted facility would host different events, citing weddings, indoor games and church services, among others, the proceeds of which would be used for developmental purposes in the village.

The facility that was built through constituency community projects, he said, would be run and managed by Village Development Committee (VDC).

He said building material suppliers had hiked prices due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Ramaphoi said after the tender had been awarded to a certain construction company, some companies proffered complaints regarding the tender, thus delaying the construction process, which appeal was resolved after six months.

He said some of the building materials were not locally available, thus delaying the project even further.

He however expressed contentment that the project was on the right course of delivery and remained optimistic that with the finishing touches everything would go according to plan.
