Rakops police station commander, Superintendent Thito Freeman, said the deceased, who was a national service officer, under the Department of Wildlife and National Parks in Letlhakane, was attacked by an elephant at Setata cattlepost.
Supt Freeman said the deceased was part of a team that had responded to a report about an elephant terrorising people at the cattle post.
He stated that the officers initially shot the elephant, which then disappeared into the bush for cover, only to attack them later, claiming one life.
