7 590 nurses in government employ

Parliament has been informed that 7 590 nurses have been employed in public clinics and hospitals across the country.
Answering a question in parliament on Wednesday, Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe, said there were 25 and 24 nurses at Julia Molefe and Gaborone West clinics respectively.
He said Gaborone West clinic needed eight nurses for it to operate for 24 hours, for both out-patients and maternity. MP Christian Greeff, Gaborone Bonnington South, had asked the minister to state the number of registered nurses employed in government hospitals and clinics.
He further wanted to know the number of nurses required at Gaborone West clinic for it to operate for 24 hours. ends
